Our products rarely Discolor easily since we use the most advanced e-coating process to help with the endurance of the plating itself, especially if it’s in gold.
It all depends on the treatment given to the piece of jewelry. It’s good to know that there are three major aspects that will affect the lifespan of a plated piece of jewelry:
· Contact with chemicals. Whether this is hair spray or bathroom cleaner, minimizing contact these materials is wise. Even your own sweat can affect the lifespan of plated jewelry. Sweat contains highly concentrated levels of sodium that in repeated events may tarnish any piece of plated jewelry.
· The activities you are performing while wearing the plated piece. You probably aren’t going to be sitting there with your hands on your lap, the entire time you are wearing it!. Let’s say, you are wearing a gold plated ring – every time that ring comes into contact with something, whether it be a mop handle, a door handle, or even your handbag, the plating is being worn down , regardless of how minimal the contact may be , it still contributes to wear and tear.
· Your own skin. Your skin PH also affects the plating. There are some people whose skin PH levels are extremely acid and will cause the plating to wear down in mere days.
